This journey through time can become a reality in Rome, in the heart of Villa Doria Pamphili, where, majestic and imposing, stands the Casino del Bel Respiro, built at the request of the Pamphili family to become a symbol of prestige and greatness of the family.
Thought of as a place of leisure and fun, it soon became a place to keep a collection of works of art of enormous value and historical value.
Already from the first steps in the villa seems to enter a daydream and to travel in the past: access is via a picturesque avenue decorated with Roman statues of the first-second century A.D and, after a short walk, you arrive in front of the imposing facade, characterized by friezes, reliefs, stuccoes and statues in Baroque style.
The real highlight of the Casino del Bel Respiro is, however, its charming exterior.
Known as our Secret Garden, it is a true jewel of landscape architecture: here hedges shaped like doves and lilies meet with evergreens, rare exotic compositions and flowers. The icing on the cake is the famous fountain of Venus and the two romantic ponds that, on the sides, embellish it - one of which curiously houses a bald cypress!
Just close your eyes to imagine, in the years of 1700, in this delightful garden, romantic walks and promises of eternal love.
It is an extremely suggestive secret place and, not surprisingly, hardly open to the public: it will be possible, and example, to visit the Casino del Bel Respiro with a guided tour only in the months of April, May and June 2024 from 9.30 am at 1:00 pm by formal request accompanied by their personal data.
